Maritime Safety Queensland has engaged the firm of GHD to conduct a survey on Recreational Boating Facilities Demand Forecasting Study. The Secretary of Fraser Coast Sunfish Martin Bellert said this was an extremely important survey for Wide bay Boaties. There was a meeting held in Hervey Bay last month but this was not open to the public as it was felt that stakeholder groups were best to deal with .

We are looking at future Boat Ramps and infrastructure for the next 10 years at least. Sunfish has submitted a detailed case for consideration as there are a number centres where the need for improvement is extreme e.g. Burrum Heads. There is also a serious need for both the Fraser Coast and Gympie Regional Councils to seriously consider the lack of on ground facilities at many of the smaller ramps in the southern areas of the Great Sandy Straits. Now is the time to speak up about pontoons queuing facilities ,disabled access and inadequate parking.

ITS BEEN PUT INTO OUR HANDS AS RECREATIONAL BOATING TO STAND AND SAY WHAT WE WANT THE BOATING INFRASTRUCTURE IN THE WIDE BAY WILL BE LIKE IN 10 YEARS. The attached link permits you to fill the Survey form in on line and lodge it with GHD. Survey Form - Please Click HERE and fill in

Funding for Fishway No1 Weir Burrum River In a recent article in the Courier Mail [Dec. 10th] you commented on the recovery of two Australian Bass from Tinana Creek, a tributary stream of the Mary River. The author of the article indicated the fish made their way downstream to the tidal barrage on the Mary River, crossed it and thence to the estuary. In all probability the bass used the fish way associated with the Mary River Barrage which does not involve crossing an 8.1 m high wall.. Please download the Letter to Mr Mulherin HERE.
