General Information

Burrum Heads is a small fishing village on the southern side of the Burrum River mouth, renowned for its whiting and bream fishery. With a permanent population of about 300 it is at the northern extremity of Hervey Bay City.
The town has plenty of rental accommodation, one hotel and two caravan parks.
Services available in the town include a butcher shop, bakery and grocery store. More extensive shopping is available at Hervey Bay 35 km away.
There are three boat ramps with one in the council caravan park suitable for launching small boats with clip on wheels.

How to get there

From the south, turn off at Maryborough towards Hervey Bay and turn left on the outskirts of Hervey Bay onto the Dundowran road continue along the coastal highway following the signs to Burrum Heads 35 km to the north. From the north turn into Howard and at the town centre turn right, travel over the Burrum River bridge and then turn left onto the Burrum Heads road for about 25 km.
