 The Tiger inhabits the estuaries and open ocean waters along the entire Queensland coast. Although recorded as attaining a length of 7.6 9.1 m (25 to 30 feet) off the southern coast of California, it is rarely taken in Queensland waters at more than 4.9 m (16 feet).
The back is grey or blue grey in colour: there are darker vertical bands and blotches on the sides which become less distinct in older specimens.
The head is blunt; the teeth are very characteristic, being broad, notched, serrated, and oblique,

 The Tiger is a proven man killer. The Tiger is also a harbour scavenger; material found among its stomach contents include lumps of coal, empty cans, dogs. bags. sea-birds. and even a woman's handbag containing a still going wrist watch.

This shark is a live bearer; as many as 47 brilliantly banded pups may be found in one litter.
